Lucy Beth will be performing a poetic monologue in Doric at Under Canvas at Eden Court in Inverness this Sunday (18th) at 2pm.

Having carried out research on the different versions of ‘Bogie’s Bonnie Belle’ on the Tobar an Dualchas/Kist o Riches website, Lucy’s monologue will re-imagine this famous bothy ballad from the perspective of Belle. Lucy is a Doric speaker from Cluny, near Inverurie. She is a performer who writes poetry in her native language and is particularly enthusiastic about using her performances to show people that the Scots leid and its dialects are still being used and valued by the younger generation, both in everyday life and in the creative industries.

The Sgrìobh | Scrieve project was set up by Tobar an Dualchais/Kist o Riches and Eden Court earlier this year to give two young artists the opportunity to create their own music and poetry in Scots and Gaelic, and then perform them live on stage.

Anndra Cumming, the Scots artist, will be performing a Gaelic song he has written about the life of a man from his home area of Wester Ross who features on the TAD/KoR website. He will also be playing a selection of tunes and other songs.
