Members of the Doric Board are sorry to learn of the passing of Dr Colin Milton, Associate Director of the Elphinstone Institute and former Senior Lecturer in the English Department of the University of Aberdeen. Colin was a leading authority on Doric literature and included in his specialisms were D. H. Lawrence, Friedrich Nietzsche and James Joyce. He was a noted authority on the works of Charles Murray, editing an edition of Murray’s works published under the auspices of The Charles Murray Memorial Fund in 2008. He had a particular interest in the use of Scots in education and was responsible for the text of Pauline Mackay’s book for children, Macnessie an the Tartan Sprackles.
