Projects that focus on celebrating Doric language, culture and traditions are being sought as part of a new funding call.
The Doric Board has opened applications to its eighth annual New Year Awards, providing financial assistance of up to £1000 to individual and group projects that promote and strengthen Doric across the North east.
To date, the awards have supported an eclectic mix of almost 100 ventures that both underscore the Board’s work and illustrate the many ways that Doric can be shared, experienced and enjoyed.
Commenting on search for recipients of the 2027 Doric Board New Year Awards, Doric Board chair Frieda Morrison said: “One of the great strengths of these awards is their ability to bring to our attention some of the passionately imaginative and engaging ways that people are highlighting our culture, and being able to help bring these ideas to life is a great privilege.
“The variety of projects we have supported over many years clearly demonstrates the wealth of possibility that exists to bring Doric to different audiences, through literature, performance, education and more.”
She added: “We would encourage anyone with an idea to consider applying, and to get their application in ahead of the December deadline.”
Applications should be emailed to The Doric Board by December 12th, 2026. Funds will be made available to successful applicants in mid-January 2027. To find out more, visit the website at www.doricboard.com or email info@doricboard.com
